Immigrant Visa (Green Card) Options

When a foreign national obtains permanent resident status through an immigrant visa, it is often referred to as earning a “green card.” This term arose from the fact that the evidence of permanent residence was originally a green-colored card. The most recent version of the I-551 green card is green as well. Obtaining a green card eliminates the need to continually renew temporary visas. This gives a foreign born physician considerably more freedom to pursue other avenues of employment as well as U.S. citizenship eventually.
