For foreign physicians and healthcare professionals considering the MAVNI program, the following are the specific qualifications necessary for eligibility:
- Applicants must fill medical specialties where the service has a shortfall.
- Applicants must meet all qualification criteria required for their medical specialty, and the criteria for foreign-trained Department of Defense (DoD) medical personnel recruited under other authorities.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.
- Applicants must commit to at least 3 years of active duty, or 6 years in the Selected Reserve.
Foreign physicians and other medical professionals who practice in the following fields may apply: General Dentists, Oral Surgeons, Comprehensive Dentists, Prosthodontists, Oral Surgeons, Preventive Medicine, Urologists, Anesthesiologists, Ophthalmologists, Otolaryngologists, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, Internists, Family Physicians, General Surgeons, Thoracic Surgeons, Orthopedic Surgeons, Emergency Medicine Physicians, Nuclear Science Officers, Entomologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Physician Assistants, Licensed Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and Nurse Anesthestists.
